The race for honours in the Nthanda Under 14 and M’mera Mpoyamba Under 16 football leagues has concluded in several districts across the country, with Lilongwe, Phalombe, Mulanje, Balaka and Dedza officially crowning their champions.
In Lilongwe, Mpira Mmudzi Mwathu have been crowned Nthanda Under 14 champions after amassing 75 points from 30 matches. Achievers FC and Mwelwa Football Academy finished second and third respectively, both on 60 points, with Achievers edging ahead on goal difference.
In the M’mera Mpoyamba Under 16 League, Namasala Soccer Academy secured the title with an unassailable 77 points. Kamuzu Barracks Youth finished second on 61 points, while Happy Hammers placed third with 57 points in the 16-team league.
Balaka saw Town Hammers complete a remarkable double, winning both the Under 14 and Under 16 titles. In the Nthanda Under 14 League, Town Hammers finished level on 42 points with Andiamo Bullets but claimed the title on superior goal difference, 55 against 40. Invincible Tigers were third with 34 points.
In the Under 16 category, Town Hammers topped the table with 48 points, followed by Invincible Tigers on 45 and Blue Stars on 44.
In Phalombe, Kaledzera Kids clinched the Nthanda Under 14 title by a single point, finishing on 43 points ahead of Mlirankhunda Kids on 42. Young P Academy finished third with 32 points.
In the Under 16 league, Mpasa Sporting Youth emerged champions with 44 points, narrowly edging Migowi Play Soccer, who finished second on 43 points from 18 matches.
Mulanje’s Super Boys claimed the Nthanda Under 14 title on goal difference after tying on 42 points with Mwazangati FC. First Icons finished third with 37 points.
In the M’mera Mpoyamba Under 16 League, Mwazangati FC were crowned champions with 39 points, followed closely by Molotoni Academy on 38 and Soccer Saints on 37.
In Dedza, Yamikani Academy lifted the Nthanda Under 14 title with 42 points from 14 matches. Kapesi Young Soccer and Jere Young Stars finished second and third with 26 and 25 points respectively.
The Under 16 crown went to Chimbiya Stars, who collected 24 points, narrowly ahead of Mapira FC on 23 points, while Yamikani Academy finished third with 20.
Meanwhile, several districts are still in the process of concluding their leagues. In Mzuzu, the second round is ongoing in both categories. Mseteka lead the Nthanda Under 14 standings with 33 points, followed closely by Chibavi Real on 32 and Hilltop on 31 after 15 matches.
In the Under 16 league, Area 1 FC top the table with 39 points from 18 matches, with Golden Stars and MK Academy in second and third positions.
In Nkhatabay, the Nthanda Under 14 title race remains open, with Young Stars FC leading on 35 points, Kachulu FC second on 33, and Wasted FC third on 32 after 16 matches.
The situation is similar in Zomba, where Mulunguzi Academy lead the Nthanda Under 14 table with 40 points from 17 games. Anganga Academy and Mitekete FC are tied on 36 points, with Anganga holding the advantage on goal difference.
