Super League rookies Fisd Wizards are one of the surprise top-four teams in the voting process to identify the preliminary teams that will complete the two slots in the K43 million Standard Bank Knockout Cup.
According to Standard Bank marketing manager Brian Mungomo Jr, apart from Wizards, the other teams are Mighty Be Forward Wanderers, Mafco and Kamuzu Barracks (KB).
“These are the teams that are topping the votes, but the process is still on going and things could change as we go along,” said Mungomo.
“The customers are expected to vote for four teams, who will engage into the play-offs between September 12 and 13 to identify two outfits that will battle it out against the six seeded sides,” he said.
The voting runs up to September 1. Then a draw for the preliminary and semi-final stage will be conducted on September 2. Semifinals are expected on 17 and 18 September before the finals on October 31.
This year’s tournament, which will be the ninth edition is scheduled to kick off September 12.
The top six teams in last year’s TNM Super League, namely, Big Bullets, Moyale Barracks, Blue Eagles, Red Lions, Silver and Civo United have automatically made it into the knock-out stage.
