FISD Challenge Cup Preliminary Draw details

                                                       
 
Introduction
The FISD Challenge Cup is a national Knockout Cup to be organised by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM). It is sponsored by FISD Limited Company to the tune of K45 million. The FISD Challenge Cup will be participated by 16 Super League and 29 District teams who won the 2016 presidential Cup district championship.
Draw
The Preliminary draw will be in two phases. The Regional Preliminary and the Super League Preliminary.
Regional Preliminary
The 29 Presidential Cup District Champions will be drawn in their respective regions to fight for 8 slots in the national phase with the following details:
Southern Region
The 13 Presidential Cup Districts Champions that  have qualified for this phase  are as follows:
Umodzi FC  (Nsanje)
Sable Farming FC (Blantyre)
Dululu FC (Chikhwawa)
Chiradzulu Police FC ( Chiradzulu)
Sayama FC (Mulanje)
Mwanza  Madrid (Mwanza)
Chikolomo FC (Mangochi)
Migowi FC (Phalombe)
Partners in Health FC (Neno)
Songani Veterans  (Zomba)
Balaka Eagles (Balaka)
Nsanama (Machinga)
Victory Rangers (Thyolo)
Round One
Three teams will be seeded  and automatically qualify for the next round while the remaining 10 teams will go into a draw to determine five teams to join the seeded three teams in round two.
Quarterfinals.
The three seeded teams plus the five winners from round one matches will go into the round two which is the quarterfinals. From there a draw for the semifinal, match for third place and final will follow.
Teams to qualify for the National draw:  3 (Champions, Runner Up and Third placed team)

Tuesday 6th September 2016, 10 am- Mpira Village Blantyre
 CENTRAL REGION
The Nine  District Champions that have qualified are as follows:
Madisi Madrid (Dowa)
Ambassadors FC ( Ntchisi)
Dwangwa Town Hammers FC (Nkhotakota)
Tiakalulu FC (Lilongwe)
Maganga FC (Salima)
Chulu FC (Kasungu)
Nkanda Youth (Mchinji)
Lake Valley FC (Ntcheu)
Dedza Young Soccer Reserves (Dedza)
Round One
Out of the nine teams two teams will be drawn to play in a playoff to find a winner who will join the other seven teams in the quarterfinals
Quarterfinals.
The seven teams on bye plus the winner of the playoff will go into the round two which is the quarterfinals. From there a draw for the semifinal, match for third place and final will follow.
Teams to qualify for the National draw:  3 (Champions, Runner Up and Third placed team)
 Draw date and venue: Tuesday 6th September 2016, 10 am- Civo Stadium Lilongwe
 
NORTHERN REGION
The seven Districts Champions that qualified for this phase are as follows:
Zolozolo (Mzuzu)
Masendesende (Chitipa)
Uliwa FC  (Karonga)
Rumphi Pirates FC (Rumphi)
Manyamula FC (Mzimba)
Usisya (Nkhatabay)
Green Rangers (Likoma)
Round One
One team will be seeded and the remaining six will be drawn to play in round one that will produce three winners.
Semifinals.
The seeded team will be joined by the three round winners in the semifinals enroute to the match for third place and final.
Teams to qualify for the National draw:  2 (Champions and Runner Up)
Draw date and venue: Tuesday 6th September 2016, 10 am- Mzuzu Stadium, Mzuzu
 
Super League Preliminary
All the sixteen Super League teams qualify  for this phase and they are presented as follows in the order of rankings as per the 2016 TNM Super League first round rankings:
Blue Eagles, Silver Strikers, Mafco, Moyale Barracks, Mzuni ,Nyasa Big Bullets, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers , Kamuzu Barracks, Azam Tigers,  Epac, Civo, Red Lions, Premier Bet Wizards FC , Dwangwa United,  Karonga United and Max Bullets
Round One
This phase will only have round one with the 16 teams drawn to play in matches that will determine the eight Super league teams to qualify for the national phase. The top eight teams from the 2016 TNM Super League first round log standings will be seeded in Pot one and the rest in pot 2.

24th August: Announcement of Format and start registration
6th September: Draw Preliminary Round both Regional Phase and Super League
17th September: Launch and Kickoff Regional Phase
1st/ 2nd October:  Preliminary Super League teams.
4th October: National Draw
15th– 16th October- Regional Finals
25th – 26th October- National Round of 16
4th – 5th November- Quarterfinals
19th– 20th November – Semifinals
