FIFA Referees Assessors’ Course begins today

The Football Association of Malawi will from today conduct a five-day  FIFA Referees Assessors Course at the Mpira Village in Blantyre.

The FIFA funded course will bring together all Elite Match Assessors as well as Technical and Physical Instructors from across the country.

According to the FAM Referees Development Officer Fredrick Kholopa, the Match Assessors will undergo various skills that will help them drill best referees in the country.

“We expect the assessors to be drilled in match analysis, Interpretation of the laws of the game, referees movements, positioning and communication as well as Football understanding to help them in observing and advising referees.

“The assessors will also learn more on electronic report writing including weighting and grading referees.

“All these skills will help in identifying and molding talented referees for further development,” said Kholopa.

A total of 16 instructors and 16 Assessors are expected to follow the course which will be facilitated by South African FIFA Technical Instructor Enock Molefe.

In August, FAM with the help of FIFA conducted an MA Elite Referees Course which was participated by 30 local referees.
