FDH bank cup a success

FDH Bank PLC says this year’s FDH Bank Cup year’s competition was a success.

The Banks Managing Director Noel Mkulich made the remarks after the final match at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday where lower league side Blue Eagles beat defending champions 3-2 on post-match penalties after a goalless draw.

” This year’s competition was the best ever. The competition achieved its purpose. Here is a situation Super League team met a Chipiku Stores League team, but the best team won. We believe we have achieved everything we wanted to achieve,” said Mkulichi.

On his part, Football Association of Malawi ( FAM) 1st Vice  President resident Madalitso Kuyera hailed FDH Bank for developing football in Malawi.

” It has been a very exciting journey. Let me congratulate Blue Eagles for winning the competition. No body expected it but they have proved everyone wrong.  We also commend FDH Bank PLC for what they are doing in domestic football,” said Kuyera.

Blue Eagles have made history as the first non-Super League side to win the FDH Bank Cup and won it in style without conceding a goal in open play.
