FCB U20 in Regional finals

The 2022 First Capital Bank (FCB) Under-20 Football League is this weekend set for regional finals with Mulanje’s Mkando Warriors and Rumphi’s Mighty Wanderers Reserve as the only teams that have made it after retaining honours at district level.

National Youth Football Association (NYFA) general secretary James Sawerengera said this is unlike the previous edition which had at least seven defending champions out of the 14 participating districts qualifying for the regional encounters.

In the South, Mkando will battle for regional honours at the Zomba Police ground against Blantyre champions Agumbala FC, Zomba winners Chinamwali Stars and Mangochi’s Chipoka FC.

Rumphi Mighty Wanderers Reserve will do the same in the North at the Mzuzu Stadium against the hosts MK Academy, Chikago FC of Karonga and Nkhata-Bay’s Real Stars FC.

The battle in the Centre will take place at Salima Community Ground where hosts Salima United will be up against Silver Strikers Youth (Lilongwe), Dedza Dynamos Reserve, Kasamba Academy (Nkhotakota), Kanalero FC (Mchinji) plus either Chigwere FC or Chisomo Academy, who are set to play in the Kasungu district finals within the week.

FCB head of marketing Twikale Chirwa yesterday said as the competition is heading towards its cup crescendo, it exciting to see that the young men are sharing the spoils and it is no longer predictable that a certain team will take the honours.
