FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women registered their third win of the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) Women’s Premiership after a comfortable 4-0 victory over bottom-placed Topik Academy on Tuesday afternoon at Mpira Stadium.
The win lifted the Bullets to 5th position on the log, displacing Kukoma Ntopwa Women, as they now sit on 10 points, while Topik Academy remain rooted to the bottom without a single point from six matches.
The fixture was a rescheduled encounter from Saturday, after Topik Academy failed to travel on time due to logistical challenges.
From the onset, Chikondi Mgodi was a constant menace for the visitors’ defense, creating several chances and driving Bullets’ attack with pace and determination.
Coach Maggie Chombo-Sadik made an early tactical change in the 18th minute, bringing in Louria Yiannakis for Florida Safilodi to inject more energy into midfield.
The breakthrough came in the 34th minute, when Mgodi beat the offside trap to slot home a fine finish from Shalon Dzimau’s long ball, giving Bullets a deserved lead.
Just before halftime, Mgodi was fouled inside the box, earning a penalty and a yellow card for Topik’s Joyce Chanza. From the spot, Carol Mlenzo made no mistake, converting to give Bullets a 2-0 cushion at the break.
After the restart, Bullets continued to dominate possession and control the tempo. Topik Academy tried to contain the pressure but were breached again in the 73rd minute, when Vanessa Issa scored the third goal following a clever assist from Mgodi.
Bullets sealed the emphatic win late in the match, capping off a strong performance that saw Chikondi Mgodi rightfully named Player of the Match for her goal involvement and overall influence.
