Fazili speaks about COSAFA expectations

The Malawi National Women’s team Coach Lovemore Fazili says he is determined to beat the team’s 2021 milestone by lifting the Cosafa Cup.

Fazili said this on Tuesday evening after the team’s loosening session in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

He said the team has settled well and all the players are geared for the tournament which kicks off tomorrow .

“We have settled very well here in Port Elizabeth and every player is ready for this year’s show.

“Looking at the girls, everyone is eager to play the games and the morale has just been boosted with the coming in of captain Tabitha Chawinga who will obviously inspire her colleagues.

“Though it’s my first time being with the Women’s team, I have been following it and have watched their previous matches so this year we are going to continue from where they stopped last year. We are more than ready to take the cup home and I am happy to be part of the team, said Fazili.

The Scorchers, who finished as runners-up in the 2021 Cosafa Women’s Championship will play their first match against Botswana on September 2 before facing Comoros on September 5. The team’s last group stage match will be against Tanzania on September 7.
