Malawi National Women’s Football Team Head Coach Lovemore Fazili has named a 32-member provisional squad for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with preparations set to begin on Sunday at Mpira Village in Blantyre ahead of next month’s tournament in Morocco.
The squad includes Under-20 players Takondwa Chinyamvula and Fatima Lali, while retaining the core of the team that has represented the Scorchers throughout the year. Vice-captain Temwa Chawinga returns after missing the team’s recent matches.
All foreign-based players are expected to report at the start of camp, except Faith Chinzimu, Asimenye Simwaka and Temwa Chawinga, who will join the squad later.
The Scorchers, who are making their maiden appearance at the continental showpiece, have been drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Zambia and Egypt.
Malawi will open their campaign against defending champions Nigeria on 28 July 2026 at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat, with kick-off at 21:00.
The Scorchers will then face Egypt on 1 August 2026 at Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat before wrapping up the group stage against regional rivals Zambia on 5 August 2026 at Al Madina Stadium, with both matches scheduled to kick off at 21:00.
The top two teams from each group, together with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.
The 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Morocco from 26 July to 16 August 2026.
