Fazili Names COSAFA Final Squad

Malawi National Women’s Team head coach Lovemore Fazili has named a 24-member final squad for the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship, scheduled to take place in South Africa from 18 February to 1 March.

Fazili has included four players who were part of the Malawi Under 20 squad that recently progressed to the final round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. The quartet comprises Leticia Chinyamula, Olivia Phikani, Sarah Mlimbika and Maureen Kenneth.

Egypt-based midfielder Vanessa Cikupila leads the foreign-based contingent, which also features defender Chimwemwe Madise of TP Mazembe Women, Tendai Sani of ZISD in Zambia, and Chisomo Banda of Konkola Blades Queens.

The regional tournament will also serve as a key preparatory platform for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, set to be staged in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April 2026.
