Fazili Names 35 Player Scorchers Squad for FIFA Series

Malawi National Women’s Football Team head coach Lovemore Fazili has named a 35-member provisional squad for the Four Nations FIFA Series Tournament in Kenya scheduled from 11 to 15 April.

The squad sees the return of versatile forward Temwa Chawinga, who last featured for the Scorchers in February 2025 against Zambia. Fazili has also included Ascent Soccer Academy forward Fatima Lali, who impressed during the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Guinea Bissau, while maintaining the core of 23 players who featured at the COSAFA Women’s Championship earlier this year.

The Scorchers are scheduled to face Australia on 11 April, with the winner advancing to the final to meet either hosts Kenya or India four days later. The losing teams will contest the third-place playoff.

The team is scheduled to begin camp on 1 April 2026 at Mpira Village in Blantyre.
