Fazili Eyes Strong Response Against Lesotho

Malawi National Women’s Team head coach Lovemore Fazili has expressed confidence that the Scorchers will deliver a convincing performance when they face Lesotho in their second Group A match of the 2025 COSAFA Women’s Championship in South Africa.

The Scorchers opened their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to hosts Banyana Banyana at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane but remain determined to bounce back in the tournament.

Speaking ahead of the match, Fazili said his players are motivated to respond positively.

“The players have a mission to respond strongly today  and we are looking to score and win by a good margin,” said Fazili.

The coach also welcomed the arrival of Egypt-based midfielder Vanessa Chikupila, whose inclusion is expected to add depth and stability to the squad. Fazili indicated that the team will retain the aggressive approach displayed against Banyana Banyana while improving on key areas.

Malawi will take on Lesotho at 15:30 as they seek to revive their Group A campaign, which also includes South Africa and Angola.
