FAM works on Kamuzu Stadium for Swaziland match

Kamuzu Stadium under maintenance

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has said it has started working on the Kamuzu Stadium along with its owners, government, ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland.
The Flames will host Swaziland’s Sihlangu on September 4 in their last Group L qualifier.
FAM general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda said they are taking precautionary measures to ensure that the stadium is in good condition.
“The match commissioner should be arriving early September and we do not want to be caught off-guard as regards the conditions of the stadium.
“So, we have engaged government to rehabilitate some of the areas that need urgent attention such as part of the pitch, toilets, perimeter fence and the tunnel from the dressing rooms to the pitch,” he said.
The facility’s manager Ambirike Mwaungulu said they were working on some areas with FAM to make sure that the facility is in great shape.
“Of course, government owns the facility, but FAM is a stakeholder and we always and reach an agreement on how to handle such situations to the benefit of both parties,” he said.
