FAM Women’s League Week 8 wrap

Ntopwa Women continue their dominance in the FAM Southern Region Women’s League as they started the second round with a 5-0 win against Attu Bullets at Mpira Stadium on Saturday.

The win has boosted their title hopes as they now have 24 points from 8 games, five points above defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets who have 19 points from the same number of games.

Ntopwa are the only team who have a 100 percent win record in the southern region this far.

In the other fixtures, defending Champions Nyasa Big Bullets defeated Red Lioness 4-0 while Ndirande Soccer Giants beat Bvumbwe FC 2-1.

Mighty Wanderers Queens were the biggest winners of the week following their 9- 1 win over  Evirom FC.

In the Central Region, Silver Strikers suffered their second defeat of the season after going down  3-2 loss to Ascent Academy .

The bankers now sit on position 3 with 18 points from 8 games.

League leaders MDF Lioness thrashed Hungry Lions 8-0 while Blue Eagles Ladies registered a 8-1 win over Hungry Lions.

Chisomo Academy and Hungry Lions are the only teams in the Central Region who are yet to register a win this season.

They have one point each but the former is 7th placed due to goal difference.

In the North, Moyale Sisters continued their winning record following their 4-1 win against Topik Sisters in their opening match of the second round.

The Kaning’ina Lionesses sit comfortably on position 1 with an eight-point gap against second placed MK Academy who have 16 points

Northern Region defending champions CY Sisters claimed back the 3 points they lost in the first round to Ekwendeni Sisters as Elteck Phiri’s lone goal was enough to grant them maximum points.

They are now third with 12 points from 8 games.

Gafu Sisters and Bico Oprltical women played to a goalless draw. The two tally at 5 points from 8 games each with Gafu on position seven while Bico Opticals are 8th.
