FAM Women’s League week 12 wrap: Moyale Sisters clinch Northern region Championship

Moyale Sisters have won the Northern Region FAM Women’s League Championship with two games remaining to wrap the season.

Moyale defeated Bico Optical Women 9-1 to grab the championship away from CY Sisters who have won it for three consecutive seasons since 2019.

Following the win, Moyale lead the log table with 31 points, seven above second placed MK Academy who have 24 points. This means that even if Moyale lose their remaining two matches, no team will attain up to 31 points as the maximum points MK Academy will have is 30 points.

In the other fixtures from the north, CY Sisters beat Hardknockers 2-0, same margin MK Academy won against Gafu Sisters.

Topik Sisters have dropped from position two to four after suffering a 1-0 loss against Ekwendeni Sisters.

Central region remains the highly contested League this season as all the top three teams continue to claim maximum points from their matches.

MDF Lioness remains on the with 32 points following a 4-0 win over Civil Service Women while second placed Silver Strikers Ladies have 30 points after defeating Hungry Lions 16-0. Ascent Academy defeated Kamuzu Institute 23-0 and they have 29 points from 12 games.

From the standings in the Central Region, any points drop for MDF Lioness will cost them the title as the Silver Strikers Ladies and Ascent Academy can easily get it due to the superior goal difference ls that they have as compared to the former. MDF Lioness have 52 goals while Silver Strikers and Ascent Academy have 77 goals and 74 goals respectively.

Chisomo Academy is the only yet to register a win this season and they have q point from the 12 games.

In the South, Ntopwa FC are at the edge of claiming the title after defeating Ndirande Soccer 1-0 on Sunday.

The Isaac Jomo Osman side have 36 points from 12 games, five above defending Champions who have 31 points after a 5-0 win over Mighty Wanderers Queens.  With two games remaining for both teams, Ntopwa need two points to claim the title as the maximum points Bullets will get is 37.

In the other games, Red Lioness beat Attu Bullets 1-0 while Evirom suffered a 4-0 loss over Bvumbwe Women. Evirom is the only team with no points across all regions this far having lost all the 12 matches.
