The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has unveiled FIFA-appointed Talent Development Scheme (TDS) coach Abdul Musawir from Malaysia as the new head of the FAM Luwinga Inclusive Academy, replacing Thabo Senong.
The former Sport Singapore Football Academy coach has been contracted for two years and will be deputised by Joseph Malizani, Robert Ng’ambi and Bridget Chirwa.
Abdul Musawir brings vast experience in high-performance football, with a strong background in elite talent identification, coach education and structured player development systems. He holds an AFC Pro Diploma Coaching Certificate and a UEFA B (England) Coaching Diploma.
Speaking during his unveiling ceremony at Mpira Village in Blantyre, Abdul Musawir expressed excitement about his new role.
“I am very happy and excited to be in Malawi and to be part of Malawi football,” he said.
“I am here to support the system, identify talent and work with youth players and coaches. Malawi has a lot of talent. Everything is here, and with a strong and visionary football president, it gives me confidence that I can support his efforts in talent development and youth football.”
The FIFA Talent Development Scheme is a global FIFA project led by former Arsenal manager and FIFA Chief of Global Football Development Arsène Wenger, aimed at strengthening youth development structures and improving competitiveness in men’s and women’s national team football worldwide.
FAM believes Abdul Musawir’s blend of international exposure, coach education expertise and hands-on elite football experience will significantly enhance Malawi’s football development agenda, particularly in talent identification and aligning youth pathways with modern football demands.
