FAM Strategic Retreat in Salima – Charting a New Course for Malawi Football

The serene shores of Lake Malawi in Salima provided a fitting backdrop for a pivotal gathering of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), as the secretariat staff came together for a transformative retreat focused on the future of Malawian football.

Held under the theme “Transforming the Game – Our Bold Agenda,” the three-day retreat offered a rare and timely opportunity for deep reflection, robust dialogue, and strategic alignment. Participants engaged in intensive sessions centered on FAM’s ambitious 10-year strategic plan, setting the foundation for long-term growth and competitiveness.

In his opening remarks, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya underscored the urgency of innovation and unity in an ever-evolving football landscape.

“We cannot afford to do business as usual. We need bold decisions, driven by data and supported by a shared national football vision,” he said.

Evenings were dedicated to team-building activities along the lake, strengthening camaraderie and fostering collaboration beyond the boardroom.
