Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to football development by rolling out a capacity-building workshop for district football administrators ahead of the inaugural NBM Championship.
The session, held on Tuesday at Bingu National Stadium, brought together officials from district football associations in the Northern and Central regions as the first group to undergo the training.
Haiya emphasized that the initiative is designed to equip grassroots administrators with the right skills to manage competitions effectively:
“We want the districts to be fully equipped as they will be running leagues at that level. Our vision is to ensure that the same quality of football is maintained across all levels of the game,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Dedza District Football Association chairperson, Chikumbutso Babu, described the training as an eye-opener:
“This training has given us knowledge and confidence. We are going back ready to improve the way we operate, which will help raise standards in our districts.”
FAM further confirmed that administrators from the Southern and Eastern regions will also undergo similar training in the coming weeks, completing the nationwide rollout.
