Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Talent Development Scheme Manager Anderson Kamanga and Luwinga Inclusive Academy Manager Joseph Malizani are currently in Senegal attending a high-level workshop focusing on football academies, capitalization strategies, and safeguarding practices.
The workshop, organized by French NGO Play International, brings together eight academies to share best practices and explore the successful economic model of Diambars Academy, one of Africa’s most renowned football development institutions.
Highlighting the importance of the training, Kamanga said: “At FAM, we want Luwinga Academy to set the standard not just in integration and inclusion, but also in terms of its economic structure. A well-modeled academy attracts serious partners, even from Europe, because it shows credibility and sustainability.”
“As we begin the process of licensing football academies in Malawi, this experience will better position us to advise local academies on viable business and safeguarding models. When academies are licensed, parents will be sure of their children’s safety, respected, and well cared for.”
The workshop is a step forward in ensuring that football academies not only nurture talent but also operate with professional and ethical standards.
