FAM mourns Botomani

Football Association of Malawi is grieving with the entire local football fraternity following the loss of former Super League of Malawi President Innocent Botomani.

Botomani, who served as Sulom President between 2011 and 2019 , died on Sunday July 18 2021 at the Kamuzu Central Hospital.

He will be laid to rest on Monday at Kondwani Village, TA Juma in Mulanje district.

FAM President Walter Nyamilandu described Botomani’s death as a big blow to Malawi football.

“In this sorrowful time, we would like to extend to the family of Botomani our heartfelt condolences. On behalf of the members of the Malawi football community, I hope that, in some way, our words of support may help bring a little bit of peace and solace in this time of sadness. May our Lord comfort you and you’re loved ones in this trying time.

“Mr. Botomani played a big role in football development in the country during his time as head of the elite league. He laid the foundation of proffessionalising the management of the league.

“He was a humble man and personally I had a good working relationship with Botomani and even though he left in 2019 he was still available to offer advice to football stakeholders and May His Soul Rest in peace,” said Nyamilandu.
