The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) on Friday launched the FIFA Women’s Football Campaign (WFC) in Zomba.
This is the second phase of the FIFA funded project aimed at increasing the number of women and girls playing football around the world by promoting the game, creating awareness and empowering girls through football in a friendly and safe environment.
Women’s Football Campaign involves the organization of a one-day promotional tournament where fun is the priority and the game of football is its teacher.
During the Campaign Women’s football ambassadors Maggie Chombo, Linda Kasenda and Asimenye Simwaka and Maggie Chombo held motivation talks with the girls.
Similar launches will be done in Karonga and |Kasungu.
The first phase of the Women’s Football Campaign involved the three cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu while the second phase has included Zomba, Kasungu and Karonga districts.
FAM will this year introduce U14 and U16 Girls’ Leagues in Zomba, Karonga and Kasungu.
