FAM Executive Committee Resolutions

During the 2021, 2nd Quarterly Meeting held on 8th May at Sigelege Beach Resort in Salima, the FAM Executive Committee made several resolutions as empowered by the Football Association of Malawi Statutes. Some of the key resolutions made during the meeting include the following;

Mpira TV Channel

The Committee approved the plan to officially roll out Mpira TV Channel when kicking–off TNM Super League second round after a successful test implementation of the channel.

The meeting approved the recruitment of a Marketing Manager who will among other key responsibilities be dedicated to Marketing and Coordinating the operations of Mpira TV channel. 

Technical Development and Women Football

The Committee rescinded its prior approval to hire a consultant to review the Technical Structure of Malawi Football. The Committee approved the hiring of an experienced Technical Director to replace the Current TD who will retire at the end of his contract in June. This position will be open to both locals and internationals. The person identified as the TD will be responsible for both the Technical Review of Malawi Football and Implementation.

The Committee resolved to accord women football a high priority strategic rating through development of a standalone FAM Women Football Strategic Plan and approval to hire a seasoned expert for Women Football Head Coach. This position will be open to both locals and internationals.

Regional Leagues

The Committee ratified the revised football calendar for Regional Leagues, National Youth Football and Women Football.

The Committee ratified the new formats for Regional and Women’s Leagues.

Preparations for Flames AFCON Qualifiers Cameroon 2021

The Committee resolved to constitute an Adhoc Committee to champion thorough preparations and resource mobilization for the Flames AFCON 2021 Cameroon Finals project. The preparations project will involve high – level and wider participation of both the public and private sector. Adhoc Committee will be headed by the 1st Vice President, Justice Jabbar Alide who is also the Chairperson of Competitions and Marketing Subcommittee.

Review of Statutes for Member Associations

The Committee approved recommendations from Heads of Member Associations (MA’s) to review their statutes in order to ensure that they align with FIFA, CAF and FAM statutes. The review of the statutes will among other things help to address existing administrative gaps and strengthen governance instruments.

Date for Annual General Meeting

The Committee resolved that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held on Saturday 26th June, 2021.
