The Football Association of Malawi hosted a two day Club Licensing seminar on Saturday and Sunday at Mpira Village in Chiwembe, Blantyre for the newly established National Division League.
Representatives from all 12 teams set to participate in the inaugural 2025/26 NDL season were in attendance.
FAM Technical Director, Benjamin Kumwenda who is also a member of the FAM Club Licensing First Instance Body said the training focused on five criteria’s aiming at professionalising the second tier league.
“The first is the Sporting criteria where we are imparting them knowledge on how can they develop young players. The other one is infrastructure, we wanted them to play in stadiums which are not occupied by the Super League teams because we wanted them to play on better pitches”
“We are also drilling them how they can manage finances within their teams. Then the other one is about administration and personnel where we wanted them to having their offices, with an Administrative Officer” said Kumwenda
One of the participants, Mathews Mbetewa, Namitete Zitha FC General Secretary hailed the FA for organizing the training, describing it as important in a bid for transforming the game.
“So far so good we have learnt a lot as a team and we are ready as a team and we believe with the help of the FA we are going to take football to the higher limit”.
NBS National Division League is set to kick off 24th May 2025.
