The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has encouraged new investors to consider football as a major investment opportunity.
FAM Executive Committee Member Daud Mtanthiko made the remarks during a Sponsors and Partnership Workshop held at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel.
The workshop aimed to create mutually beneficial partnerships between the corporate sector and FAM by enhancing return on investment for sponsors.
“Football is a large and lucrative business, and we are inviting more investors to come on board and help grow the game. Our goal is to ensure that football delivers value to sponsors and makes their investments worthwhile,” said Mtanthiko.
He added that although the workshop comes at a time when sponsorship discussions have intensified publicly, the initiative is part of FIFA’s broader development agenda.
“The timing may seem linked to current sponsorship discussions, but this workshop is part of FIFA’s development plan,” he explained.
FIFA Senior Marketing and Strategic Planning Manager Heather Okkeper commended FAM for organizing the workshop, saying it will help companies engage with football in more innovative and valuable ways.
“I’m excited with the growth of football in Malawi and the professionalization of FAM’s products. This workshop will help sponsors transform their business, marketing and promotional strategies through football,” she said.
She added that the engagement would help redefine how companies partner with football by creating innovative marketing strategies.
NBS Bank Marketing Manager James Chikaonda also welcomed the initiative, describing the training as timely and necessary.
