Football Association of Malawi (FAM) through its president Walter Nyamilandu has congratulated the new Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga.
Kamanga was elected new FAZ leader on Saturday after beating his predecessor and Zambia’s football legend Kalusha Bwalya.
Kamanga polled 163 against Bwalya’s 156 while another contestant Henschel Chitembeya got a single vote.
“We congratulate the new president of FAZ and pledge our support to ensure continued smooth working relationship,” said Nyamilandu.
He said FAM and FAZ have always enjoyed a sound relationship.
Nyamilandu himself recently won his fourth consecutive term as FAM president after defeating Wilkins Mijiga and Willy Yabwanya Phiri.
Meanwhile, Kamanga has paid tribute to Kalusha.
“I will not turn our soccer icon into a villain. This I promise, but we will respect the laws of the land and those of football reforms,” he said.
