FAM Concludes CAF B Coaching Course Cohort 2

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has concluded the CAF B Coaching Course Cohort 2, with 25 coaches successfully completing the programme.

Among the graduates are three women, reflecting the growing participation of female coaches in development initiatives under FAM’s Transformation Agenda.

FAM Technical Director Yvon Avry urged the coaches to apply the knowledge gained and contribute to the development of the game.

“We expect these coaches to go out and make a difference. The knowledge gained here should reflect in how the game is taught and played across the country. Courses like this are key to transforming Malawian football,” said Avry.

He expressed confidence that such programmes will help raise the overall standard of football in the country.

FIFA Coach Instructor Captain John Kaputa (Retired) also challenged the participants to implement modern coaching methods.

“The coaches have shown great commitment throughout this course. It is important that they carry this discipline and knowledge into their respective teams to help raise the standard of the game in Malawi,” said Kaputa.

One of the participants, Scholastic Khunga, said the course had a significant impact on her development.

“This course has greatly improved my understanding of the game, especially in areas of tactics and player management. I feel more confident to go back and contribute to developing players at grassroots level,” she said.

The course, which began in November 2025, focused on equipping coaches with essential technical and tactical knowledge aimed at strengthening football development in Malawi.

The CAF B Licence is the minimum qualification required to coach in the elite league in Malawi.
