FAM APPROVES ELEVEN STADIUMS

MEDIA RELEASE

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Club Licensing First Instance Body has approved eleven stadiums for Elite Competitions in 2025/2026 season.

FAM did two stadium inspections in January and in March and assessed 16 venues in total.

Following the inspections, the FIB convened to review submissions from the stadiums and approved eleven stadiums as follows:

Rumphi Stadium (Rumphi) Chitowe (Nkhotakota) Champion (Dowa) Silver (Lilongwe), Nankhaka (Lilongwe), Dedza (Dedza), Kamuzu (Blantyre) Mulanje (Mulanje), Karonga (Karonga) Mzuzu (Mzuzu) and Bingu National (Lilongwe)

Dimba, Civil and Mpira Stadiums have been placed   on standby pending minor improvements which if addressed they will be considered for approval.

Balaka and Chitipa Stadium have been deemed unfit to host matches.

FAM Club Licensing Manager Clement Kafwafwa explained that venue owners were given enough time to address deficiencies after an initial inspection in January.

“Following our first inspection, we informed stadium owners of the required standards and necessary improvements for approval, while some addressed the issues, others did not, leading to these results.

“We will continue monitoring the conditions and ensure regulations are adhered to,” said Kafwafwa.
