Extreme FC reclaimed second place in the NBS Bank National Division League after coming from behind to beat Embangweni United 2-1 at Owen Malijani Stadium in Mchinji.
Extreme had been pushed to fourth place following Ndirande Stars’ 1-0 win over leaders Songwe Border United on Saturday, but responded strongly to move back into the second spot.
Embangweni made a flying start, scoring what is so far the fastest goal of the season through Menard Magawa just 30 seconds after kick-off.
Magawa, who netted his fourth goal of the season, was set up by James Banda before beating his markers to give Embangweni an early lead.
Extreme fought back and equalised in the 26th minute through Chifundo Ngonjera, who finished from a Slay Antony assist.
Antony then scored the winner in the 71st minute after being assisted by Gregory Mwase to complete Extreme’s comeback.
The result took Extreme to 12 points, one behind leaders Songwe Border United, while Embangweni United have dropped to fourth place with 10 points.
Meanwhile, FOMO FC were held to a goalless draw by Changalume Barracks at Mulanje Park.
Ntaja United remain fifth with 9 points, level with Embangweni, while Changalume Barracks remain bottom of the 12-team table with three points.
