Exciting matches in FDH Bank quarterfinals

Blantyre giants Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have avoided each other in the FDH quarterfinals draw which was conducted at Mpira Village on Wednesday morning.

The draw which was conducted by FAM Vice President Justice Jabbar Alide and FDH Bank Head of Marketing and Communications Levi Nkunika, has seen giants’ killers Changalume Barracks paired against fellow non-Super League side Extreme FC while Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves will face Blue

Nyasa Big Bullets and Wanderers have avoided each other as they were drawn against Chitipa United and Kamuzu Barracks, respectively.

Alide hailed the organization of the competition, saying it has brought some entertaining football with the  progress of four regional league teams to the quarterfinals.

“The journey so far has been particularly good. You recall that we started with lower league teams all the way to a stage where Super League teams joined the race, and everything is progressing very smoothly. We are very thankful to our sponsors, media and the teams for the support rendered to us throughout,” he said.

In his remarks, Nkunika said the bank is extremely impressed with how the competition has progressed this far.

“We are excited and impressed as sponsors. The games have been managed and played professionally, they were competitive and at end of the day, each team and supporters behaved. It was a violence free because our interest is to make sure that football entertains families, people should be comfortable to take their families to football venues and watch games. So far, we are excited, and an added component was the fact that lower league teams  managed to qualify to this stage which was very brilliant and these four are competing at top level with other four Super League teams and for us, this is exciting,” he explained.

The  quarterfinals will be played on the weekend of 20-21 August 2022.

The winner will walk away with MK25 million prize money and a beautiful trophy.

Silver Strikers  won the first edition last year but will to be able to defend it after they were knocked out in the round of 32 by Dedza Dynamos.
