Eagles in crucial first round decider

Wizard FC standing in Bullets way

Blue Eagles on Wednesday host PremierBet Wizards in a crucial TNM Super League first round decider at Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe.
Eagles are tied on 29 points with leaders Silver Strikers but lie on second position due to an inferior goal difference.
This will be Eagles’ last first round fixture while the Bankers already completed last weekend when they lost 3-0 to Mafco in Dwangwa.
The first round winner carts home K300 000 at the end of the season.
A draw will be enough to guarantee Eagles a first-round finish but their coach Deklerk Msakakuona said they will still fight for a win.
“Yes, we have an option of the draw to finish the first round at the top, but we are looking at the long-term because our target is to win the league title and so we cannot afford to be dropping points,” he said.
On his part, Wizards coach McDonald Yobe also said the match is equally important to them as a win will help them move a place up to 12th.
A win for Wizards will also be a timely boost having landed sponsorship from betting firm—Premier Betting—last week.
Wizards have 12 points from 14 games.
