The stage is set for the 2025/26 Castel Challenge Cup final as Goshen City Dedza Dynamos face FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday in a battle for the prestigious trophy.
Goshen City Dedza Dynamos head into the final buoyed by a historic campaign that has seen them reach this stage for the first time, while Bullets are aiming to secure another piece of silverware and reinforce their recent dominance in knockout competitions.
Dedza coach Alex Ngwira declared his side ready for the occasion but acknowledged the magnitude of the task ahead.
“All is set and the boys are ready to make history and fight for our first prestigious trophy. Bullets are a big side with a lot of experience in cup games compared to us, but we will give them a good fight,” said Ngwira.
He added that lifting the cup would significantly boost the team’s morale ahead of next season.
“If we win the cup tomorrow, it will give the boys confidence and self-belief going into next season,” he said.
On the other hand, Bullets interim coach Gilbert Chirwa said his players are determined to rise to the challenge.
“The boys are ready and thirsty to clinch another trophy. This is a cup game and cup matches are always tricky, so we have to do everything possible to emerge victorious,” said Chirwa.
He emphasized the need for focus and discipline.
“It is very important to approach the match with high intensity and tactical discipline because cup games can easily turn on small details,” he added.
Historically, Bullets have had the upper hand, winning four of the last eight league meetings between the two sides. In knockout competition, they also recorded a commanding 5-1 victory over Dedza in a previous FDH Bank Cup encounter, adding further intrigue to Saturday’s showdown.
