Day 1 Review: HTD Beach Soccer National Championship semifinalists identified 

Defending champions Beach Eagles from Chintheche, Nkhata Bay , Vinthenga from Nkhotakota , Deep Bay from Chilumba and Karonga are through to the HTD Beach Soccer National Championship semifinals  in Mangochi.

The teams that made into National Championship were drawn in two groups.

Beach Eagles sailed into the semis after topping Group A with six points after winning their group games.

They defeated Vinthenga 7-2 before seeing off Noil 8-4.

Vinthenga came second in the Group A after acquiring three points from their 10-4 win over Noil.

Hosts Sunbird Nkopola accumulated four points to occupy top seat in the Group B after 3-2 victory in post match victory over Deep Bay and 6-3 win over Tourism from Lilongwe.

Deep Bay finished second to make it to the second stage.

They will face Beach Eagles in semis while Sunbird Nkopola will play Vinthengavin the second semis.

Beach Soccer Association general secretary Wakisa Mwambetania said they are impressed with the level of competition.

“We have seen great competition among the teams and we hope that this will help to select good players for our National Beach Soccer team,” he said.

On his part, Football Association of Malawi (FAM) competitions committee chairperson Fellister Dossi said the performance among teams on the first day has brought a lot of new and youthful talent.

HTD Managing Director Zain Sidik said the sponsors are impressed with the way the tournament started Saturday.
