Two Lilongwe-based sides, Civil Service United and Silver Strikers, have completed the Airtel Top 8 Cup semifinal lineup, joining Karonga United and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
Civil Service United stormed into the semifinals with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Mzuzu City Hammers on Saturday at Civo Stadium. Blessings Malinda starred in the triumph, setting up two goals and netting one himself. The other goals came from Dastin Banda, Muhamad Biason, and Damian Kunje.
Meanwhile, Silver Strikers secured their spot after defeating Moyale Barracks with a 4-1 aggregate win. Festus Duwe led the charge, scoring in Lilongwe during the 1-0 first-leg victory and adding two more at Rumphi Stadium. Stain Davie also found the net, while Moyale’s Black Alisen scored a consolation goal.
This weekend’s results have set up a Capital City derby between Silver Strikers and Civil Service United, scheduled for June 22 at Bingu National Stadium.
Earlier, Karonga United and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets booked their semifinal berths by overcoming Mighty Wanderers and CRECK Sporting, respectively. They will clash on June 21 at the same venue.
