Chombo Names U20 Squad for Nigeria World Cup Qualifier

Malawi Under-20 Women’s National Team head coach Maggie Chombo has named a 29-member squad to begin preparations for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup final preliminary round qualifiers against Nigeria.

Chombo has retained 21 players who featured against Guinea Bissau in the third-round qualifiers earlier this year, maintaining continuity in the squad.

The Young Scorchers are scheduled to face Nigeria on 2 May 2026 away, before hosting the return leg on 9 May 2026 at Bingu National Stadium.

The winner of the two-legged tie will secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Poland from 27 August to 26 September.

The team is expected to go into camp on Monday, 13 April 2026 at Mpira Village in Blantyre as preparations intensify for the crucial encounter.
