South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Bloemfontein Celtic has decided to shelve Flames and Nyasa Big Bullets forward Chiukepo Msowoya’s trials to until May this year.
Chiukepo underwent trials at Celtic for over a week, but the club said it will not offer him a contract now.
Celtic manager John Maduka and Chiukepo’s agent Martin Sekati confirmed that Chiukepo will be assessed further after the current season.
Said Maduka: “Chiukepo did well. He is more matured and focused now than he was while at [Orlando] Pirates, but the coach needs ample time to assess him further.
“So, we are expecting him back here in May.”
On his part, Sekati said in the meantime, he will negotiate a pre-contract.
“According to the information I got from Celtic management, they were impressed but they want to assess him further in May and there are openings for a pre-contract offer which we will discuss once I get to Bloemfontein.
Chiukepo, who is still in the rainbow nation, could not be reached for comment.
Last year, he also underwent trials at PSL side Bidvest Wits and a top Lebanese side.
He was last season’s TMM Super League Player of the Season and joint Golden Boot Award winner with 14 goals alongside Red Lions’ Innocent Bokosi.
Chiukepo set to have his trials extended
