Big Bullets hitman Chiukepo Msowoya and Red Lions talisman Innocent Bokosi will share the 2015 TNM Super League Golden Boot award after tying on 14 goals.
The award goes with a monetory prize of K250 000 plus a trophy.
Chiukepo, who trailed by goal going into Sunday’s final league match against Civo United, scored Bullets’ last to catch up with Bokosi as Bullets emerged 3-1 victors.
There was also confusion surrounding the scorer of Bullets first goal as Chiukepo appeared to claim the goal, but Super League of Malawi (Sulom) clarified that it was an own goal as Chiukepo’s header was aided into the net by Civo’s Richard Chande.
“According to the referee’s report, it was recorded as an own goal because it was Chande who had the last touch before it crossed the line,” said Sulom’s general secretary Williams Banda.
Both Chiukepo and Bokosi said they were delighted to win the award.
Chiukepo last won the award in 2007 while with the now defunct Escom United. He scored 17 goals then.
This is not the first time that the Golden Boot Award will be shared. In 2010, Luka Milanzi and Chikondi Mpulula also shared spoils.
Last year, Moyale’s Gastin Simkonda won the accolade with 17 goals.
