Malawi Under-17 National Team Head Coach Enos Chatama says his side is ready and in high spirits ahead of their TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations | COSAFA Qualifiers opener against Madagascar today.
“The boys are eager to play. Everyone is showing good character and making it tough for us to choose the starting XI,” Chatama said after the team’s final training session at Ellis Robbins High School Ground in Harare.
Chatama added that the squad has settled in well since arriving in Zimbabwe and thanked the Football Association of Malawi for ensuring smooth preparations.
“We have been well taken care of. The boys are comfortable and focused. Credit goes to the Malawi FA for making sure we have everything we need here,” he said.
Looking ahead to the match, the coach pointed to the importance of experience within the squad, noting that it will help avoid mistakes from previous tournaments.
“We have a few experienced players who will help us correct the mistakes we made in our first game last time. A win tomorrow will put us in a good position to advance to the next stage,” he explained.
The game kicks off at 12 noon at Ngoni Mwos Stadium in Harare. Malawi has been drawn in Group B alongside Zambia, South Africa, and Madagascar.
