CECAFA Postponed, Malawi Beach Soccer Team Heads Home

The Malawi Beach Soccer National Team is expected to return home today from Kenya following the postponement of the CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship.

Malawi and Seychelles were already en route to Mombasa when CECAFA announced the postponement.

The tournament, which was scheduled to take place from 16 to 20 July in Mombasa, was postponed on Monday morning by the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) due to security concerns. New dates for the competition are yet to be announced.

Coach Willy Kumilambe has described the postponement as a setback in their preparations for the COSAFA Beach Soccer Championship, which is expected to take place later this year.
