Castel Challenge Cup update: Six Districts set for final matches

About six districts will this weekend identify their Castel Challenge Cup National phase representatives as they hold final matches.

The other districts are at semifinal level and are expected to wrap up next weekend.

Up North Likoma is the only the district that will play its final match this weekend as Try Again will face Red Devils on Sunday while Nkhwazi and Madimba will battle for the third place.

The Northern Region Regional Football Association has set up final six fixtures that will determine the League’s representatives for the national phase.

Mayamiko Stars and Iponga FC, who made it to the National phase of the 2023 FDH Bank Cup, will battle it out at Thumbi ground on Sunday.

In the other fixtures, Ekwendeni United will play Nyungwe United as Kadona Stars face Kamnthenja United on Saturday.

Luviri FC will host Baka City at Ngazi ground while Raiply United will meet Jenda United at Chiwaza Ground. The last regional phase fixture will involve Khuyu Cobras and Chipolopolo FC at Mkondezi ground.

In the Central Region, Ntcheu, Kasungu, Mchinji and Kasungu will have their finals on Sunday while Nkhotakota have scheduled their third place and final matches later in the week.

In Ntcheu, Bilira United and Sharp Valley will meet in the third-place match at Ntcheu Secondary School Ground in an early kick off at 12 noon before the final match involving Mpulanga FC and Ntcheu Young Soccer at 15:00.

Kasungu will also have their third place match involving Chinkhoma FC and Chulu Young Soccer at 12 noon before the final between Wimbe Spurs and Ergo FC at 14:30 at Kasungu Stadium Sunday.

In Mchinji, Nkhangazaona will face Matutu Market in the final as Mchinji Veterans face Kanalero FC in the third place play-off.

Fikiza FC and Mgwirizano FC are the two finalists in Salima following their victories in the Semifinals played last weekend. Fikiza beat Kamuzu Road 5-1 while Mgwirizano FC won 2-0 Young Rangers to book their places in the final. The two will meet at Fikiza Ground on Sunday, but before the final, Young Rangers will play Kamuzu Road in the match for third place.

At regional level, the Qualifiers will go into final round next week after a draw was conducted on Tuesday this week.

In the South, Machinga and Blantyre Rural Districts will play their semifinals over the weekend while some district have already found the finalists with dates for final matches yet to be confirmed.

In Blantyre Rural, Maseko FC will take on Lirangwe Hammers in the first semifinal as Katete Super Hammers face Chileka United at Gada ground this coming Sunday.

Machinga have their semifinals scheduled on Saturday and Sunday with Siyahamba FC facing Mwitiya United at Kawiliwita Ground on Saturday and; Zumulu Hammers and Liwonde United meeting at Mgodi.

Mulanje’s Milonde Medicals will host Nsuwadzi FC at Mulanje Park Stadium on date to be announced soon while semifinal losers Pasani FC and Kambenje FC will meet in the third-place play-off.

The South already indentied its six Regional League national phase representatives last week.
