Castel Challenge Cup update: More District Champions identified

Most districts across all the regions have identified their  Castle Challenge Cup National Phase representative after holding successful finals over the past weekend.

The district teams will join regional representatives and Super League team in the national draw set for late this month.

Nkhangazaona FC will represent Mchinji District after defeating Matutu FC 3-2 while Dowa will be represented by Dowa Hammers. They won 5-4 on post-match penalties against Dowa Young Academy after a one-all draw.

For Salima District, Mgwirizano FC defeated Fikiza 5-3 in the final while Kasungu’s Ergo FC will represent the District after a 2-1 Victory over Wimbe Spurs.  In Ntchisi, Kamsonga United were over the weekend crowned champions after a 4-1 Victory over Kalambe FC.

At regional level, Central Region Football Association has also identified the five teams that will represent it at national level. ST Gabriel Medicals Zitha FC, Mtengenji Monaco, Mitundu Strikers, Leyman Panthers and Chisomo Academy won their final round matches and made it to the national round.

Up north, Likoma’s Red Devils were crown Champions while in Chitipa, Mafana mafana will represent the District.

Rumphi’s Mwazisi United registered a 3-2 victory over Lunyina FC to book a place at national level while Zolozolo Rangers of Mzuzu District registered a 3-1 victory over Chikago FC. For Mzimba District, Mzalangwe United won it on post-match penalties after a goalless draw against Kalikumbi FC.

At regional level, Ekwendeni United, Kadona Stars, Iponga FC, Luviri FC, Raiply FC and Khuyu Cobras are the six teams that will represent Northern Region Football Association at national level.

After identifying regional teams last month, Southern region has a number of districts that are yet to crown their Champions as they are still at either quarterfinal and semifinal stage while others have already identified Champions.

Nsuwadzi FC are the Champions of Mulanje District after defeating Milonde FC 2-1 in the final while Siyahamba Nselema FC won 5-4 on post-match penalties after a 3-3 draw with Zumulu Hammers to be crowned Champions of Machinga District.

Mangochi, Balaka, Chiradzulu and Chikwawa had their semifinals players over the weekend while Mwanza have played their quarterfinals.

In Mangochi, Mapira Stars will meet Hardknockers in the final while Balaka’s Sawali FC will face Ma-Proffe. For Chikwawa, Makanga FC and Mlambe are the two finalists while Chiradzulu’s Sable FC will meet Gande FC in the final.
