Bullets and Dedza Dynamos Book Castel Cup Last 16 Spots

Seven goals were scored in two Round of 32 matches of the Castel Cup on Sunday as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Goshen city Dedza Dynamos secured away victories to advance to the round of 16.

At Karonga Stadium, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets cruised past Songwe United courtesy of a spirited hat trick from Maxwell Gasten Phodo. The forward opened the scoring in the first half before adding two more goals after the break to seal the win.

The victory sets up a round of 16 encounter for Bullets against lower league side Ndirande Stars.

Bullets head coach Gilbert Chirwa praised his players for making the most of the chances created from midfield, while Songwe United coach Gift Chilongo felt his side accorded too much respect to the visitors.

At Aubrey Dimba Stadium, Goshen City  Dedza Dynamos defeated Creck Sporting 3 to 1. First half goals from Chikondi Mbeta and Chifuniro Mpinganjira put the visitors in control before Luke Chima added a third five minutes into the second half. Creck Sporting pulled one back late on through Frank Phiri.

The result books the Visitors a round of 16 clash against Karonga United.

Goshen City Dedza Dynamos coach Alex Ngwira said his side would immediately turn focus to preparations for the Karonga United match, while Creck Sporting coach Elijah Kananji lamented missed opportunities.

The Round of 32 action continues on Thursday, 15 January, with Namitete Zitha hosting Silver Strikers at Aubrey Dimba Stadium. The winner will face Mzuzu City Hammers in the next round.

At Rumphi Stadium, on Tuesday 20 January, Moyale Barracks will be at home to Bangwe All Stars, with the winner set to meet defending champions Mighty Wanderers.
