Beach Soccer team set for History

The Malawi National Beach Soccer team Coach Willy Kumilambe says his charges are geared to make make history by beating Tanzania this afternoon and qualifying for the Afcon finals.

Kumilambe said this yesterday after the team’s final training session at the Coco Beach in Dar es Salaam ahead of today’s 2022 Beach Soccer Afcon qualifier match against Tanzania.

He said all the 15 boys that he brought from Malawi available for selection and is confident of defeating Tanzania.

Malawi go into the match with an advantage following a 3-2 in the first leg at Livingstonia Beach in Salima two week ago.

“We had a great travel from Malawi and we have had a feel of the pitch. Though their sand is too soft than ours, we can’t complain about  it because we are professionals and we will do everything possible to win.

“Being an away match, we know, sometimes there are mind games but the boys are mentally prepared and geared for the match.

“Our squad is comprised of  young and energetic people and we have told them that the easy way to defend is to be offensive, attack and score goals. Malawi as a country has never participated at the Beach Soccer Afcon but this year we want to break the record and make histor,” he  said.
