Battle for Regional Qualification Intensifies as Castel Cup District Finals Continue

The Castel Challenge Cup District level finals buzz continues with several districts set to crown their champions this weekend.

The finals kicked off last weekend with thrilling encounters that saw Green Buffaloes (Salima), Msamba Estate FC (Zomba), Ligowe Young Soccer (Neno), Young Movers (Thyolo), Thunga United (Mulanje), Bloomsfield (Mchinji), Sigelita Chikuli Hot Bullets (Blantyre Rural), Chawe Bullets (Kasungu), Ergo FC (Chiradzulu), Mwanza United ( Mwanza) and Chitera FC (Chiradzulu) emerging victorious.

This weekend, attention shifts to more districts where decisive finals are expected to light up local grounds.

On Saturday, football lovers in Nkhata-Bay will witness a mouthwatering clash between Cups Winners and Homesweppers FC at Maganga Ground, while in Mzuzu, Baula Celtic will take on Kavula Select at Lupaso Ground.

In Machinga, Liaz FC will face Ngokwe United at Ntaja CDSS in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.

On Sunday, the action continues with Dwangwa Town Hammers battling Amazon FC in Nkhotakota, while in Dowa, Heroes Academy will meet Mkanga at DAPP Ground.

Balaka Stadium will host an exciting matchup between Mpulura Stars and Invincible Tigers, whereas Likoma will witness a showdown between Chiponde and Try Again at Madimba Ground.

The weekend’s action will wrap up in Karonga on Monday, where Chicago FC will face Malo at Karonga Stadium.

The winners from each district will progress to the regional phase, where they will face teams from the Division One, Premier Division, and National Division League in their respective regions.

Last weekend, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya graced the Neno District final, cheering on teams and reaffirming FAM’s commitment to strengthening football development through the Castel Challenge Cup.
