All set for FCB U-12 League finals

All is set for the 2022 First Capital Bank (FCB) Katswiri League national finals to be held at Kasungu Stadium this weekend as the National Youth Football Association yet again provides a platform for unearthing hidden talent in the country.

Four teams including host district Champions and three regional champions, will participate in the finals.

According to the draw held on Wednesday, Southern region champions Chinamwali Stars will play hosts Chigwere 11 FC in the first semifinal while northern region champions MK Academy FC will face central region champions Silver Strikers FC on Friday. Winning semifinalists will battle it out in the final on Saturday.

Speaking during the draw conducted at FCB Head Office, the Bank’s Head of Marketing  Twikale Chirwa said they are happy with their association with the League since 2009 as they have contributed to the development of Malawian football.

“Our mission is to unearth the talent that is there in the districts especially rural areas where no one is goes to identify the players. As we go forward, we want to uncover more talent that will help football development in the country.

“We are always delighted to see  the products of this league like Peter Banda and many others graduating from the league playing in the Super League League and at national level.

“As a Malawian bank, it is beneficial for us to see football developing in the country, so we are always proud to be associated with Malawian football,” said Chirwa

National Youth Football Association (NYFA) General Secretary James Sawerengera said the association is happy with the competitiveness of this year’s  league which has seen  three new teams making it to the final.

“Expectations are high on the finals because there was high competition from the districts and all the teams that have made it to the finals expect Silver Strikers who had previously made it to the stage. This is good for us because it is telling us that new teams can always come with surprises on the ground,” said Sawerengera.

The First Capital Bank U20 Katswiri League is played in 14 districts from across the country.
