All set for 2025 FAM Women’s Regional League

The 2025 edition of the Football Association of Malawi Women’s Regional League is set to kick off this weekend, bringing women’s football action across all three regions of Malawi.

This year’s regional  leagues come with a new twist, as the winners from each region will earn automatic promotion to the top-flight NBM Women’s Premiership next season. The number of participating teams has also been adjusted, decreasing from ten to eight per region to create a more competitive format.

The changes follow the promotion of three teams, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women, Kukoma Ntopwa Women, and Mighty Wanderers Queens from the Southern Region.

Ascent Academy, Silver Strikers Ladies, Civil Service Ladies along with MDF Lioness from the Central Region, who secured their spot in the national league by defeating Mzuzu City Hammers (Northern Region) and Chitoliro Heroines (Southern Region) in the playoffs.

In the Northern region MK Academy, Topik Sisters and Moyale qualified for the National league.

The introduction of promotion and relegation between the regional leagues and the NBM Women’s Premiership marks a new era for women’s football in Malawi under the FAM’s transformational agenda.
