All National Division Teams Granted Full Licences

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has awarded full club licences to all 12 National Division League (NDL) teams for the 2026/2027 season following a review by its Club Licensing First Instance Body (FIB) on Saturday, 4 April 2026.

All 12 teams successfully fulfilled the licensing requirements for the upcoming season, marking significant progress compared to the inaugural campaign, where only eight out of 12 teams were granted licences.

FAM Club Licensing Manager Clement Kafwafwa expressed satisfaction with the results.

“As the Association, we are pleased and satisfied with the work these NDL teams have performed by fulfilling club licensing requirements, and we are hoping to see another competitive season,” he said.

Kafwafwa added that the outcome reflects meaningful progress under FAM’s football transformation agenda.

“The results have shown an improvement and provided a true reflection of where our game of football is heading. This means we are moving in the right direction,” he added.

FAM noted that the licensing seminar conducted earlier played a critical role in strengthening understanding of governance standards, operational compliance and club licensing requirements, with clubs showing improved commitment to meeting regulations.

The teams set to compete in this year’s NBS Bank National Division League are Ndirande Stars, Bangwe All Stars, FOMO FC, Mighty Tigers, Chilobwe United, Ntaja United, Changalume Barracks, Namitete Zitha, Extreme FC, Mzuzu City Hammers, Songwe Border United and Embangweni United.
