Flames out to salvage some pride

Flames ready to burn Swaziland

Flames will be out to salvage some pride when they face Swaziland’s Sihlangu in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Sunday.
Malawi are out of contention for Gabon qualification as they are winless in this campaign.
The Flames anchor Group L with two points from five games going into this last dead rubber clash.
However, captain Limbikani ‘Pupa’ Mzava and interim coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan said they will still fight for a win.
“If we can salvage a win on Sunday, it could at least provide some solace to long-suffering Malawians.
“It could help win back the faith from the fans after a disappointing run,” said Mzava.
On his part Ramadhan said a win could also help the Flames rise on Fifa rankings.
“It could also act as a turning point in the quest to turn the corner,” he said.
Making a return to the Flames squad will be defender Lucky Malata, midfielders Robert N’gambi and Chimango Kayira who were droped by former coach Ernest Mtawali.
Swaziland, who arrived in the country on Thursday, still have a chance to qualify as one of the best runners-up.
They are on second position with eight points, three short of leaders Zimbabwe’s Warriors who take on Guinea in Conakry.
