Wanderers, KB clash in Carlsberg Cup

Kamuzu Barracks- 2013 champions

Carlsberg Cup holders Be Forward Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks (KB) on Wednesday clash in a quarter-final qualifying match at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The match comes just over a week after they met in a TNM Super League match in which the Nomads emerged 2-1 winners.
However,  KB coach Billy Phambala said it will be payback time for the Nomads.
“We cannot accept to lose twice within 10 days to the same team and, therefore, we will come out with all our guns blazing,” said Phambala.
On his part, Wanderers team manager Stevie Madeira said being the defending champions, their aim is to go all the way to the finals.
“Our goal is to defend the cup and take it back to Lali Lubani Road.
“But even in the event that we do not defend it, we cannot afford to be kicked out at this stage,” he said.
Kamuzu Barracks also won the cup three years ago when they beat fellow soldiers Moyale 1-0 in Mzuzu..
Last year’s losing finalists Nyasa Big Bullets, Mafco, PremierBet Wizards, Silver Strikers, Red Lions, Mangochi Police and Prison United already qualified for the quarter finals.
Bullets beat Azam Tigers (1-0), Red Lions struggled to beat Civo Youth 5-4 on post-match penalties, Wizards ousted Mzuzu United also on penalties (6-5), Prison United pipped fellow lower league side Zomba United 1-0, Silver thumped Zolozolo United 4-1, Mafco edged Moyale 1-0 while Mangochi Police booted out Warm Heart Bullets 3-1.
