Flames get Namibia’s test

The Flames will line up against Cosafa Castle Cup defending champions Namibia’s Brave Warriors this evening at Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek as they tune up for the regional showpiece which kicks off on Friday.
Malawi will face Angola’s Neglas Palancas in their opening Group B contest on Sunday evening.
Flames coach Ernest Mtawali said they have put behind their 3-0 humiliation at the hands of Zimbabwe’s Warriors in a 2017 Africa cup of Nations qualifier in Harare last Sunday.
“We have put behind our exit from the 2017 Afcon campaign and our focus is not on the task at hand.
“I believe Wednesday’s friendly match will help us prepare for the tournament,” said Mtawali from Namibia on Tuesday.
The Flames mentor hinted that he would ring minor changes to the team that started against Zimbabwe.
Defender John Lanjesi is out of the strength-testing match having picked a knock during the match against Zimbabwe.
Namibia coach Ricardo Manneti said they are not underrating Malawi.
He said the match will be a good test for the Namibians ahead of their title defence campaign.
“It will be a practice match for us and we need to give a chance to those that didn’t feature on Saturday [when Namibia beat Niger 1-0 in an Afcon qualifier].
“We need to test them and see how best to use all the players and playing Malawi is an ideal test as they are a very tricky team.
“Against Zimbabwe they [Flames] showed character and have a good team which can give us real test. “
