Govt okhay with Flames trip

Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) has nodded to Flames’ trip to Guinea in the wake of the new deadly Ebola scare.
The Flames are scheduled to proceed to Guinea on Tuesday evening from Siera Leone for Friday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifier.
Sports Council executive secretary George Jana said government was concerned about the situation in Guinea and were in consultation with both FAM and government as they awaited a response from CAF after it (FAM) sought its direction and guidance on the matter.
“But in the event that CAF does not respond in time then the team will have to proceed to Guinea as it risks losing the game by default.
“Nevertheless, we expect CAF to respond before the team’s departure from Siera Leone,” he said. A
t least two people are reported to have died of the deadly pandemic following the new scare.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu yesterday said they were anxiously waiting for CAF’s response on the matter. The epidemic has killed 11,300 people in Guinea, Siera Leone and Liberia since 2013.
